One's a monster, one's a human. Compromise implies a measure of equality between them. I don't really see much equal between one weak little human, and an apex predator like Mort.

Well, if it weren't for that trinkets powers, Noah would already been dead and forgoten by this point. His pseudo rebirth is both his life anker and his curse. It is the reason he can still talk to Mort in the first place. Althou i personaly dont like that Noah is an completly outclassed victim right know, i hope/think he will use at least his wits go get some sort of leverage in one way or another.
