Judging from his earlier comment on the ills of humanity and the fact that probably all of his exposure to them has been humans wanting to kill him, it’s got me wondering if Mort is feeling genuine astonishment at what Noah said. Like, he wasn’t given reason to believe that humans were capable of any sort of compassion.
